Soirée d'Été

Soirée d’été (Summer Evening) is inspired by the daily walks in my neighborhood during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.

The works are monochrome monotypes that use the plants I collected during these walks, which I then passed under my etching press, giving life to a composition, with each work being unique. I use a deep blue ink and print on rice paper which brings lightness and delicacy to the printed work.

One might think they are cyanotypes but in fact it is print work - which allows a certain freedom and a new discovery each time the work goes through the printing press. The plant then supports the creation of the work, guiding the composition. It is often transformed, keeping only the essence of the plant, stem, flowers, leaves. I bring my personal touch, sometimes superimposing the prints, and playing on the positive and negative side of the impression.
