AUVSI is proud to present the first edition of a new electronic quarterly publication, "Mission Critical."

Each issue will examine a different topic area in depth and is available free electronically to AUVSI members and in paid printed form to all.

This first issue examines intelligent transportation and includes a feature story about the National Federation of the Blind's Blind Driver Challenge, where technology, rooted in DARPA's robotic vehicle challenges, helps blind people drive. We also take a look at the U.S. Department of Transportation's connected vehicle efforts and a European project to develop "road training," both of which could make future driving safer and more efficient.

We also interview leading transportation technology officials, look at technology challenges and peek at what pop culture has to say about intelligent vehicles. Take a look, let us know what you think, and stay tuned for the next issue, which will focus on first responders and their technology needs.
