The California Red originated from an attempt to breed an unusually meat-productive sheep that wouldn’t need shearing. It grows a lovely fleece that is usually oatmeal- to tan-colored (although it’s sometimes white), often flecked with fine red hairs. There’s nothing quite like its wool, which is well worth experiencing.
Dig deeper into the California Red story with the Fiber Guidebook. Search "Guide to Fiber Intensive: California Red" in the shop.
