Palestine Diary

In 1978, a year after graduating from college, I spent 16 months in Jerusalem to explore my roots. This was the critical period after Egyptian President Anwar Sadat's visit to Jerusalem, the ensuing Camp David Accords, the beginnings of the Israeli settler movement and the Iranian Revolution. These events constitute the root of the many hurdles that today continue to plague a just and peaceful resolution of the conflict over Palestine.

I recently excavated these 40 year old photographs and journal and found some real gems. They provide insight into these catalytic developments from the perspective of a young and naive Palestinian returning for the first time to his parent's homeland.
