The theater opened in 1924 as a vaudeville stage and movie house and has maintained it's status since then. The building features glazed terra cotta and, circular leaded art glass insets depicting four of the nine muses of Greek mythology and flanked by terra cotta masks.

Over the years there have been numerous reports from patrons and employees alike that have experienced all types of paranormal normal activity in the Capitol Theater building.

There is also a story of a murder that took place there that some believe occurred in the 1930’s or 40’s.
