DEPARTURE

Here I am besides my most dangerous tree terminally bitten by my old 22 inch chainsaw, forty years of age and still rumbling;

It is the last of a breed which gets brittle with age and then suddenly splits open...now, this one towered over the street, power lines next door house almost; in fact it was three trees sprouting out from this big trunk, from eight feet up there;

My problem was to cut it down by myself without smashing through utilities etc...the worst, most difficult was to think out all the possible events, narrow them to the most efficient ones, all the while having money for gas only, being a pensioner at the lowest level of the financial scale;

It meant scaling up my intellectual exertions, all the while linking them to my body and old tools; then came that fateful week whilst I ripped through something like 12 siblings, leaning over the street, but single trunks all of them;

I kept him for dessert, whence all skills get orchestrated into this majesty's downfall; firewood it is.
