Joyce Gehl (joycesart)

Joyce Gehl began working professionally as a graphic artist in 1989 and in 2007 she segued from her graphic work into painting. Gehl’s rapid rise in the fine art arena is due in part because she has been able to incorporate her design expertise and innate visual creativity to the painting process.

The artist received her BFA in art from Art Center College of Design and a BA in art history from University of California at Santa Barbara. She has been a practicing artist and designer since 1987 and her work has been published in many editorial publications including Pacific Magazine, Seattle Times and Alaska Airlines Magazine. Her drawings and paintings have appeared in print on wine labels, in custom books, in public gardens and on retail signage. In addition, through her design expertise she has created corporate identity for many companies. She has been honored in the national publications Print, Graphis, Critique and Communication Arts.

Gehl lives in Seattle and works in her studio overlooking Puget Sound.
