Jadah Alford (JaayPicasso)

Jadah Alford is an aspiring artist attending Kennesaw State University, where she will complete her master's in Digital Animation. Alford sees her art as a challenge to the ideas of confinement. Alford' own journey of exploring her identity, sexuality, race and religion fuels the drawings, paintings and digital work she creates. Jadah sees her work as an opportunity for others to reflect and engage with their own feelings through images of the closet, historical references depicting racism and homophobia as well as other symbols of oppression as a method of others finding strength in finding oneself. Alford's artwork has been exhibited in the Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery at Valdosta State University, Valdosta States office of Diversity and Inclusion, and VSU Student Art Competition (2020)(2021). Jadah has also served as a member of MAG (Media Art Geniuses)(2020) and has self-published her first book. Upon completion of her degree, Alford will continue her explorations in the art world pursuing towards animation.
