Franka Gabler (franka-gabler)

Being a scientist and a landscape photographer, Franka M. Gabler developed a fascination, admiration, and respect for nature. Shortly after moving to California in 1997, she experienced her first wilderness backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada mountains and fell in love with the beautiful landscapes. Ever since, she has been photographing the beauty and moods of California’s landscapes, the everlasting change of the seasons, the simple and complex interaction of the water, rocks, sky, plants, and wildlife. Franka's photographs have been recognized internationally. In 2022, she was the overall winner of the Landscape Photography World Awards. In 2021, she received the First-Place award for the ‘Intimate and Abstract’ category of the Natural Landscape Photography Awards, and in 2023, she was recognized as a Highly Commended Photographer of the Year. She was featured in several photography magazines. Franka has often been invited to speak and teach at photography conferences. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibits and is represented in private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

Expressing mood and capturing the essence is what she strives for in her photography.
