INGREDIENT is a food magazine primarily for children ages 6-12. The magazine encourages children, with adult supervision, to master cooking skills through practice, using a variety of recipes included, both simple and moderately complex.

This issue features a seasonal guide to eating, safety tips for Halloween candy, a look at how to properly mash, and a step-by-step guide to making applesauce. Features include facts about pumpkins and recipes for pumpkin soup and pepitas, as well as a piece on vegetarianism and what it means. Another feature investigates the origins of Oktoberfest and explains food traditions related to the festival. Iron Chef Cat Cora answers INGREDIENT'S questions about food and cooking. Learn how to make your own butter and why visiting farms is fun. Lots of activities include recipes, food hints and tips, puzzles, games and a quiz.
