Republic of Dreams by Robert Tomlinson: Imagined portraits paired with two-word-based sound poems invite the viewer into a non-linear, non-sensical realm of being. This series of artworks is inspired by two French artists: writer Raymond Roussel (1870 - 1925) and painter Chaim Soutine (1893- 1943). Roussel believed that pure beauty could be experienced only in an imagined world. Soutine painted intensely colored intimate portraits, dense landscapes and dead carcasses like no one else before or since has ever done.
