Tremolo is a book and cd based on the sound/photo/video installation by Sheila Griffin and Guinevere Syers. When a musical note is produced it decays very quickly. By rapid reiteration of the sound an illusion of the original note is created and sustained, sometimes indefinitely. This process is called Tremolo. After someone we love dies there is a desire to hold on to them. Through ritualistic recall we create an illusion of a life sustained. A space in which we coexist with our grief and love, anger and impotence. It is a timeless place of contradicting and oscillating complexion. Reverberation of a sound within a sound, memory within a memory; infinite simultaneous recovery and loss.
