The Case of Display: San Jose State University Art Students & Alumni Comment on a Self-Organized Exhibition

The comments in this book were solicited from San Jose State University art students and alumni who exhibited (or were invited to exhibit) their work in the Spartan Pop-Up Gallery on Friday August 1st, 2014, in San Jose, CA. When the exhibition was over, the artists were asked to write about their experience from the moment they were invited to take part in the exhibition, to the time the exhibition was deinstalled.

A singular type of exhibition catalog, "The Case of Display" captures otherwise fleeting impressions, not of the artwork itself (as an artist statement would) but of the psychological and material conditions of showing one's work- the experience of displaying.
