Bill Kiely is a young artist who is publishing this new group of situational portraits using a $5.00 app called Art Studio and a stylus on his iPad. They are truly amazing and form an interesting visual polemic between hope and despair.

Mr. Kiely has gathered photos of people from trips in the US, Europe, and South Korea; they are for the most part street people. Although he has imbedded them with his own cynical view of the human condition, by the shear deftness of his talents in using color, line, and composition, he also romantically shows the dignity and hope in humanity. Through this process, he gives the drawings a painterly quality and conceptual content that transcends cartoons or caricatures into truly works of art.
