out of San Francisco with a friend en route to Los Angeles, with a death valley detour; we are on a two lane highway top of a mountain pass, wind and drizzle; suddenly, driving, I see way up a bunch of those thousanders; drop the car in the snow sleet and get my stuff up there, shoot the thing while holding down tripod and back into the rolling can on our way to yosemite; you never know what you have unless you have developed the cultural perceptual tools to do such a search; people think they see what the see...mirrors over mirrors...historically Tower of Babel; those who took care to read a bit of the old and new Testaments, can figure out and compare...with a cultural span of two thousand years of knowledge, reference it becomes easy to 'see'; otherwise, one should forget it all.
