These are composited digital images made by combining the color channels (red, green, blue) of two or more separate photos into a single image. I try to achieve compositions that aren’t just interesting arrangements of color and form, but if possible interesting (maybe contrasting, maybe complementary) thematic juxtapositions.

They were inspired by the abstract experiments of the late great American photographer Harry Callahan, specifically when he sandwiched sheets of black and white film to print. Callahan’s simple concept of sandwiching disparate images is the springboard. Using my digital photo post processing expertise, I carry the concept further. Unlike Callahan’s, my work is digital and that is significant. I have more tools at my disposal for manipulating the combined images than Callahan had in his black and white film darkroom.
