Soul of the Junction SCIO’s Community Impact & Investment Update tells the story of how a storm-damaged hall in Carstairs Junction is being transformed into an inclusive, sustainable and low-carbon community asset.
This illustrated report documents the completed roof replacement, 92 solar PV panels and battery storage, newly secured building-restoration funding, plans for two sensory rooms developed with University of Strathclyde DMEM students, and a growing programme of workshops, licensed community events and climate action.
It also highlights SOTJ’s partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, now serving more than 190 families, alongside its work with the Corra Foundation, CEMVO Scotland, the Scottish Flood Forum, Community RePaint and the developing Blacklaw Initiative.
