Rio Buenaventura

Rio Buenaventura is a compilation of water images, both new and old. Water is an irresistible subject that has appeared in various bodies of my work over the years. Inspired by an exhibit at Gray Loft Gallery, I gathered this selection.

From the book's text: There had long been a hope of explorers that a river flowing west from the Rocky Mountains would reach the Pacific Ocean. Not until the 1830s, when California's Sierra Nevada mountains were fully explored, was the phantom waterway debunked. I have borrowed the name of the imaginary river for this selection of water images without location.
