A voracious self-taught student, he immersed himself in work of the masters — Cartier-Bresson, Vivian Maier, Ansel Adams — training his eye for moments when opportunity and preparation meet. He prefers analog to digital and shoots with an older Nikon camera and minimal post-processing. He maintains that the camera is no more responsible for a great image than a stove is for a great meal. His street photography is defined by the collision of chance and compositional rigor: the right light, the right shadow, the right stranger passing through the frame at precisely the right moment. As Cartier-Bresson once said, and as Edimilson Ferreira wholeheartedly agrees — luck plays a part, each and every time.
