Fruitful

“Fruitful” is the follow up to Thomas Duft’s photobook “Frugal,” continuing his exploration of smartphone photography as both tool and witness. Embracing the medium’s imperfections, distortions, and accidents as part of its visual language, Thomas allows the smartphone not only to capture the world around him, but to shape the way he sees it.

If Frugal moved through reflections and binaries, Fruitful lingers in their residue: the stain, the drift, the loneliness, and the brief moments of contact that grow from living inside a fractured world.

Fruitful follows what remains after the split, and the quiet suggestion that emptiness still carries something. It reflects on danger in projection, danger in tension, and the strange forms of presence that continue to surface in the margins.
