Bonnie Bonnell was a central and luminous figure in Baltimore’s art community from the mid-1970s through the late 1990s. This book is a portrait of Bonnie and the artistic community that surrounded her. Primarily a painter and mural artist, she also worked as an actress, model, cartoonist, fashion trendsetter, and zine producer. Bonnie moved easily across disciplines, bringing creative energy, humor, and commitment to everything she touched. The photographs in this book taken by myself and others capture the relationships, gestures, and atmospheres that sustained this world—moments of intensity, theater, and shared purpose. This book includes Bonnie’s personal photographs and memorabilia, as well as newspaper clippings. Now living in Venice, Florida, Bonnie continues to paint and exhibit her work. This book stands as a visual memoir of her creative life and of a time when art was inseparable from friendship, collaboration, and lived experience.
