In Moonday Mag #6, we invite readers to consider the idea of self beyond personhood, or even physicality. In “A Botany Lesson” by Kyle Wagner, a man tries out a new identity, only to discover that someone else is, too. In “Boyana” by Radus & Mareto, an ancient vampire is unable to resist the pull of lower beings. In “The Possum on the Roof” by Cody Bennett, insanity is not limited to our plane of existence. In “Devil’s Song” by E.C. Traganas, a simple change in environment leads to a not-so-simple change in reality. And in the non-fiction piece “Jack”, by Harvey Silverman, Hume’s philosophy is seen at work as we are introduced to a man only through the opinions and assumptions of others. These pieces are accompanied by ten small poems dealing with some of the strongest self-making concepts: death, consumption, love, mourning, memory, motherhood, and sexuality. This issue also features the works of six artists concerning the creation, erasure, rebuilding, and childishness of identity.
