The southeastern United States is, and has been, a challenge for wool-growing sheep breeds. Over time, three breeds--all now classified as rare and endangered--have proven their ability to thrive in an environment of heat, humidity, predators, and parasites: the American Tunis, the Florida Cracker, and the Gulf Coast Native. This account focuses on how sheep came into this area and the obstacles they manage to deal with to thrive there. Their wools are lovely! While all are "mid-grade," they have distinct characteristics.

Printed document plus free digital version; 8x8" publication. This document contains theory and practical knowledge for fiber arts enthusiasts of all skill levels. The handouts are heavily illustrated.
