Abandoned: Oppede le Vieux

Beautifully photographed ruins of a small village and its surrounding area in Provence, William unfolds a history of heresy and persecution of a people whose religious beliefs put them at odds with the entrenched powers of an authoritarian Church and its political appointees. Refuges, churches and the village of Oppède le Vieux itself, form the backdrop of a story set within the turmoil of the Reformation and its “counter” but has its roots in the simple ideology of a group who sought the freedom to explore their own vision of a Christian life.
