(Re)Building

Atlantic Gallery is delighted to present our 2021 international juried exhibition, (re)BUILDING. This past year, art has been a refuge for many, a challenge for others, yet creativity prevails as we weather the ongoing storm. As artists we rely on numerous forces intrinsic to our creative process, navigating difficult and challenging periods, giving rise to beautiful and complex works.

In conceptualizing and creating this show, Atlantic Gallery sought works from this past year that inspire, and embrace, the spirit of rebuilding, renewal and resiliency. All the included artwork utilizes wax, whether in the form of cold wax, encaustic, or both. The organic qualities of wax as an art medium lends itself to additive and subtractive methods and techniques, enhancing the emotional and structural qualities of the work. Now is the time to gather our resources and strength, and rebuild: our lives, our world, our art.
