By the early 21st century, fashion shows were a regular part of the fashion calendar. The couture shows, held twice a year in Paris by the official syndicate of couture designers, present outfits that might be ordered by potential clients but which often are intended more to showcase the designers’ ideas about fashion trends and brand image. Ready-to-wear fashion shows, separately presenting both women’s and men’s wear, are held during spring and fall “Fashion Weeks,” of which the most important take place in Paris, Milan, New York, and London.
