Emotive Magazine | Issue No. 1 | Power to the Female

The theme of this issue, “Power to the Female,” was inspired by one image I took of Haley McCown. The image was of her facing away from the camera with her arms raised with one crossing over to the other interlocking as she gazed into the sunrise. It was a simple pose silhouetted by ever changing colors and textures in a natural coastline landscape. The image was special and powerful and told an inspiring story. This image not only inspired me, but also inspired many women who saw it. They were drawn to this idea of Power to the Female, and wanted to express what it was inside of them that made them feel like a powerful female. This issue features 12 women as they tell their stories set in landscapes along the California coastline.

Julia and I have long desired to design our own publication. We have combined our photography and graphic design passion to create our own style and perspective.
