ARCHIVE is an inventory of California pictures by Rudy VanderLans. It is presented in a series of digest-format booklets, published irregularly by Emigre. Each issue features eleven postcard-size pictures, some with short notes about photography and California. Archive is part of a more ambitious and ongoing project titled "A Portrait of California in the First Half of the 21st Century,” where VanderLans tries to capture, in a variety of books and publications, what attracts and puzzles him about his adoptive home state.
