Treasure Island is located
in the San Francisco Bay,
between Oakland and San
Francisco. In 1936 as the
Bay Bridge was being built,
fill was dredged by the Army
Corp of Engineers to create the
artificial island. Currently
the eastern span of the Bay Bridge
is being replaced by a new bridge.
while, the buildings on the
island are left boarded up in
a state of ruin. These photographs
were taken to document Treasure
Island at a moment in time.
