Situated in the Hollywood Hills, Griffith Observatory's architecture and mission make it one of the most famous and most visited icons of Los Angeles.

An observatory, its goal is to fulfill Griffth J. Griffith's vision of making astronomy and observation of the universe accessible to all.

Its architecture combines Art Deco, Greek Revival and Beaux-Arts elements to bridge the real of the world we observe around us and the illusionary of the dimly glimpsed edges of the universe.

Photographs by Bruce Bohannan and Matthew Thompsoon.
