Each day at local noon the earth turns the sun to the meridian of Griffith Observatory to remind us that the sun is the root of time.
Visitors to the Gottlieb Transit Corridor observe this"zero-point" of time with a sculpture of architecture and astronomy known as the Meridian Instrument.
The Meridian Instrument has marked local noon daily since its dedication in May 2007, the 72nd anniversary of Griffith Observatory.
