The fascinating culture and politics of Black Hair is being revealed and presented in HAIRitage: A Fine Art and Photo Exhibition. The intent of the exhibit is to develop conversation through paintings, photographs, a digital slideshow and various tools used by the barber and cosmetologist, while promoting healthy solutions for hair. HAIRitage explores the traditional function of the Black Barber Shop and Beauty Salon through art installations by bringing to life the social, cultural and spiritual aspects of these institutions. The HAIRitage exhibition features paintings and photography by such national fine artists and photographers as, Gerry GOS” Simpson (Sacramento, CA), Dr. Allan M. Gordon (Sacramento, CA), Keith Mikell (Los Angeles, CA), Kevin Hellon (Sacramento, CA), Lonnie Ollivierre (Atlanta, GA) Malik Seneferu (Richmond, CA) and more.
