Paint-A-Rock Day! was a story created to give readers an example of social activism ideas for young children. The characters Malik and Nisha demonstrate unity and equality as they set out on a journey through their neighborhood. The children come up with an idea to make change in their community and their efforts are acknowledged by the elders and leaders of their town. Children's book author, Ayanna Simone Fabio, felt it important to self-publish and partner with local artist/illustrator Daphne Burgess to help bring visual life to the story.
