From a very early age I have loved being in mountains. I have hiked and climbed in Iceland, the Pyrenees in France and Spain, the Swiss Alps, the Dolomites in Italy, have ascended mountains and volcanoes in California and Oregon, and have climbed desert mountains and canoed and descended canyons in California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. The writings and photos in this book are a small record of some of those trips and adventures.
