Preliminary studies show a possible role of thyroiditis detected by 18F-FDG PET/CT in evaluating treatment response and as a prognostic marker in oncological patients treated with immunotherapy. However, further studies are needed. CONCLUSIONS Diffuse 18F-FDG thyroid uptake is a relatively rare event commonly due to benign diseases, among which thyroiditis is the most common. The rate of neoplastic disease with diffuse 18F-FDG thyroid uptake is very low. Diffuse 18F-FDG thyroid uptake requires further investigation and clinical evaluation for the correct diagnosis. Currently, cases of diffuse thyroid uptake with non-18F-FDG radiotracer are only anecdotal.Aristotle was the first author who described the existence of abnormalities in the timing of human puberty. In the classic Greek-Roman period, Pliny the Elder and Phlegon of Tralles described the first individual cases of precocious puberty in children. During the Middle Ages, precocious puberty in the male (but not in the female) was ignored. We present what is, to our knowledge, the first full description in European literature of male precocious puberty and its consequences in an adult. This case is included in a book of the miscellaneous genre of Spanish Renaissance literature (Jardin de Flores Curiosas) written by Antonio de Torquemada in the sixteenth century.Proline-, glutamic acid-, leucine-rich protein 1 (PELP1) is a novel estrogen receptor (ER) coregulator, demonstrated distinctive characters from other ERα coregulators, and has been suggested to be involved in metastasis of several cancers. In ERα-positive breast cancer, PELP1 overexpression enhanced ruffles and filopodium-like structure stimulated by estradiol (E2) through extranuclear cell signaling transduction hereby increased cell motility. However, whether PELP1 is also involved in extracellular matrix remodeling of ERα-positive breast cancer cells is still unknown. In this study, we investigated the role of PELP1 in E2-induced MMP-9 expression and the underlined mechanism. The results demonstrated the following E2-induced ERα-positive MCF-7 breast cancer cell MMP-9 mRNA and protein expression in a rapid response and concentration-dependent manner. Knocked down PELP1 significantly suppressed E2-induced MMP-9 expression. E2-bovine serum albumin (BSA), a large molecular membrane-impenetrable conjugate of E2, can also upregulate MMP-9 protein expression in MCF-7, and the action of E2-BSA can be abolished by PI3K inhibitor LY294002; treating MCF-7 simultaneously with PELP1-shRNA and LY294002 did not show synergetic inhibitory effect on E2-BSA-induced MMP-9 expression. Our results indicated that estrogen-induced MMP-9 expression in ER-positive breast cancer cells may be through PELP1-mediated PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.Peer-mediated interventions (PMIs) are often used to support children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to develop social skills. However, more investigation is needed to better understand the role of peers as both intervention recipients and models. Sixty-five typically developing peers who participated in a PMI for children with ASD were investigated using a randomised control trial. Play sessions of the dyads were scored using the Test of Playfulness. Results showed a significant moderate intervention effect for the peers from pre- to post-intervention; outcomes for children with ASD were not influenced by peer characteristics; and, the children demonstrated a similar pattern of play interaction. Implications for practice are discussed.Clinical Trials Registry Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry, https// (ACTRN12615000008527; Universal Trial Number U1111-1165-2708).Mercury (Hg) is a potent neurotoxin that biomagnifies within both aquatic and terrestrial food webs resulting in adverse physiological and reproductive effects on impacted wildlife populations, including songbird communities. Due to reducing conditions, wetland ecosystems promote the formation of methyl
