Pulmonary edema is the most common pathophysiological change in pulmonary disease. Aquaporins (AQPs) and Na /K -ATPase play pivotal roles in alveolar fluid clearance. This study aimed to explore the influence of increased alveolar fluid on the absorption of lung fluid. Eighty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into eight groups ( = 10 in each group), and models of different alveolar fluid contents were established by the infusion of different volumes of normal saline (NS) via the endotracheal tube. Five animals in each group were sacrificed immediately after infusion to determine the wet/dry ratio, while the remaining animals in each group were killed 4 hours later to determine the wet/dry ratio at 4 hours. Additionally, lung specimens were collected from each group, and quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), western blot, and immunohistochemical (IHC) analyses of AQPs and Na /K -ATPase were performed. The qRT-PCR analysis and western blot studies showed markedly decreased mRNA and protei excessive alveolar fluid accumulation.. · The expression levels of AQPs and Na+/K+--ATPase were significantly decreased as alveolar fluid increased.. · At 4 hours, wet/dry ratio was significantly increased when infusion volume was ≥ 6 mL/kg.. · Early intervention is required to avoid excessive alveolar fluid accumulation.. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) among pregnant patients at the time of delivery in a rural Midwest tertiary care hospital and to examine demographics, clinical factors, and maternal and neonatal outcomes associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy. This prospective cohort study included all delivering patients between May 1 and September 22, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Plasma SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing was performed. SARS-CoV-2 viral reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) results and maternal and neonatal outcomes were collected from the electronic medical record. Data were analyzed using univariate statistical methods with clustering for multiple births. In total, 1,000 patients delivered between May 1 and September 22, 2020. Fifty-eight (5.8%) were SARS-CoV-2 antibody positive. Twenty-three also tested viral positive during pregnancy. Three of 1,000 (0.3%) were viral posit The SARS-CoV-2 infected patients and their neonates were not found to be at increased risk for adverse outcomes. · SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence rate in pregnant population in Iowa is 5.8%.. · Infections are higher among minorities, non-English speakers, and patients without private insurance.. · No increased adverse maternal/neonatal outcomes observed for SARS-CoV-2 infected mothers.. · SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence rate in pregnant population in Iowa is 5.8%.. · Infections are higher among minorities, non-English speakers, and patients without private insurance.. LY2880070 cell line · No increased adverse maternal/neonatal outcomes observed for SARS-CoV-2 infected mothers.. Genes related to the MAPK cascade, ethylene signaling pathway, Pi starvation response, and NAC TFs were differentially expressed between normal and abortive ovules. Receptor-mediated ethylene signal perception and transmission play an important role in regulating fruit and ovule development. Xanthoceras sorbifolium, a small to medium-sized tree endemic to northern China, is an emerging dedicated oilseed crop designed for applications in advanced biofuel, engine oil, and functional food, as well as for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. Despite the importance of Xanthoceras seed oil, low seed productivity has constricted commercial exploitation of the species. The abortion of developing seeds (ovules after fertilization) is a major factor limiting fruit and seed production in the plant. To increase fruit and seed yields, a better u
