The incidence of NPC in Pahang was intermediate in males and low in females. The total number of NPC cases reveals an increasing trend from 2012 to 2014 and then a slightly decreasing trend from 2015 to 2017. The incidence of NPC in Pahang was intermediate in males and low in females. The administration of systemic corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbation is the first line of management. The duration of this administration, however, is not well established in clinical practice. The objective of this study is to compare the clinical outcomes between short-term and long-term corticosteroid use in the acute exacerbation of COPD patients. A single-centre, retrospective cohort study was conducted. From 2014 to 2018, all patients over 40 years old with COPD who were admitted to the hospital with a case of COPD exacerbation and received systemic corticosteroids at presentation were included. The subjects were divided into two groups according to the duration of systemic corticosteroid therapy. The primary outcome was hospital re-admission within 180 days. The secondary outcomes were 30 days mortality and length of hospitalisation. The two groups were compared using an independent sample -test, a Chi-square test, and a Mann-Whitney U test, according to thetion of corticosteroid use remains controversial, and further studies are recommended to assess the relationship between patient profile and adherence to therapy post-discharge with re-exacerbation. Lipomas are benign adipocytic tumours. Surgical excision is the gold standard for treating such lipomas, but it results in unaesthetic scarring. A total of 126 patients were randomised into two groups. The patients in Group A underwent mesotherapy ( = 66) and those in Group B underwent surgery ( = 60). The patients in Group A group received six sessions of mesotherapy treatment at 2-week intervals. Both groups were followed up for 12 weeks, during which they were assessed for complications arising from treatment, reduction of the size of the lipoma and cosmetic outcomes. The overall mean age of the patients was 32.93 (± 10.1) years old and the mean volume of the lipomas was 2.29 (± 3.8) mL. A 55.86% ( = 0.0032) mean reduction in the volume of lipomas was noted in the patients who received mesotherapy, while one patient showed a gain of 16% by volume. The patients in Group A (cosmetic score ≥ 4 63%) were happier with the treatment than those in Group B (cosmetic score ≥ 4 21%). Our findings indicate that mesotherapy modestly reduces the volume of lipomas with very few and minor complications and excellent cosmetic outcomes. Computed tomography (CT) attenuation (Hounsfield unit [HU]) value of lumbar vertebra may provide an alternative method in the detection of osteoporosis during CT scans. A cross-sectional study on 50 patients of age 50 and above with contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) was conducted from November 2018 to November 2019. Single region of interest (ROI) was placed at the anterior trabecular part of L1 vertebra on CECT to obtain HU value. Correlation of CT HU value of L1 vertebra and DXA T-score, interrater reliability agreement between HU value of L1 vertebra and T-score in determining groups of with and without osteoporosis, ROC curve analysis for diagnostic accuracy and cut-off value of CT for detection of osteoporosis were identified. Significant correlation between HU value of L1 vertebra and L1 T-score ( = 0.683)/lowest skeletal T-score ( = 0.703) ( < 0.001). Substantial agreement between HU value of L1 vertebra and DXA in determining the groups with and without osteoporosis ( = 0.8; < 0.001)
