Background Nurses experience high levels of distress due to the nature of their work and workplaces; Antonovsky's salutogenic theory shows that individual and work-related factors can influence human health. JAK inhibitor The aim of this paper is to analyze the possible correlations with different work-related and individual variables, which influence or are influenced by Sense of Coherence (SOC) and verify the possible use of SOC scales to prevent negative health determinants in workplaces. Methods Electronic databases were searched with selected studies compared for sample, sample size, study design and basic results. Cross-sectional studies were reviewed for correlations between individual physical and mental health, distress, burnout, job satisfaction and SOC, with intervention studies used to assess the possible impact of training on nurses' SOC. Results The review found several correlations between SOC and different work-related variables; but also with several individual characteristics. Conclusion The review found that SOC was predictor of depressive state, burnout, job dissatisfaction among female nurses; therefore, SOC could be a health promoting resource.Clinical treatment of skin lesion is primarily dependent on timely detection and delimitation of lesion boundaries for accurate cancerous region localization. Prevalence of skin cancer is on the higher side, especially that of melanoma, which is aggressive in nature due to its high metastasis rate. Therefore, timely diagnosis is critical for its treatment before the onset of malignancy. To address this problem, medical imaging is used for the analysis and segmentation of lesion boundaries from dermoscopic images. Various methods have been used, ranging from visual inspection to the textural analysis of the images. However, accuracy of these methods is low for proper clinical treatment because of the sensitivity involved in surgical procedures or drug application. This presents an opportunity to develop an automated model with good accuracy so that it may be used in a clinical setting. This paper proposes an automated method for segmenting lesion boundaries that combines two architectures, the U-Net and the ResNet, collectively called Res-Unet. Moreover, we also used image inpainting for hair removal, which improved the segmentation results significantly. We trained our model on the ISIC 2017 dataset and validated it on the ISIC 2017 test set as well as the PH2 dataset. Our proposed model attained a Jaccard Index of 0.772 on the ISIC 2017 test set and 0.854 on the PH2 dataset, which are comparable results to the current available state-of-the-art techniques.Zone plates are diffractive optics commonly used in X-ray microscopes. Here, we present a wet-chemical approach for fabricating high aspect ratio Pd/Si zone plate optics aimed at the hard X-ray regime. A Si zone plate mold is fabricated via metal-assisted chemical etching (MACE) and further metalized with Pd via electroless deposition (ELD). MACE results in vertical Si zones with high aspect ratios. The observed MACE rate with our zone plate design is 700 nm/min. The ELD metallization yields a Pd density of 10.7 g/cm 3 , a value slightly lower than the theoretical density of 12 g/cm 3 . Fabricated zone plates have a grid design, 11 line-to-space-ratio, 30 nm outermost zone width, and an aspect ratio of 301. At 9 keV X-ray energy, the zone plate device shows a first order diffraction efficiency of 1.9%, measured at the MAX IV NanoMAX beamline. With this work, the possibility is opened to fabricate X-ray zone plates with low-cost etching and metallization methods. In the optimization process of nucleic acid aptamers, increased affinity and/or activity are generally searched by exploring structural analogues of the lead compound. In many cases, promising results have been obtained by dimerization of the starting aptamer. Here we studied a focused set of covalent dimers of the G-quadruplex (G4) forming anti-Vascula
