Results Nineteen studies were eligible (HIV 8, HCV 2, Dengue 2, Chikungunya 1, COVID-19 6) including two pre-prints. Nine and ten studies assessed CQ and HCQ respectively. Benefits of either drug for viral load suppression in HIV is inconsistent. CQ is ineffective in curing dengue (high certainty evidence) and may have little or no benefit in curing chikungunya (low-certainty evidence). PD98059 The evidence for COVID-19 infection is rapidly evolving but at this stage we are unsure if CQ or HCQ has any benefit in clearing viraemia (very low certainty evidence). Conclusions Using HCQ or CQ for HIV/HCV infections is clinically irrelevant now as other effective antivirals are available for viral load suppression (HIV) and cure (HCV). There is no benefit of CQ in dengue and the same conclusion is likely for chikungunya infection. More evidence is needed to confirm if HCQ or CQ is beneficial in COVID-19 infection.Objectives Legionella is a bacterial species able to cause influenza-like illness (Pontiac fever) or severe pneumonia (Legionnaires disease, LD). We assessed Legionella presence and concentration in composting facilities in The Netherlands. Methods A total of 142 samples from 23 green waste composting facilities were screened for Legionella DNA using qPCR. Results Of 142 samples, Legionella spp. DNA was detected in 97 (68%), and the subspecies L. pneumophila and L. longbeachae in 33 (23%) and one (0.7%) samples, respectively. Legionella was observed in samples from all composting facilities. The concentration of Legionella spp. DNA ranged from 103 to 105 genomic units (GU)/gram. Compost temperature was negatively correlated with the presence (odds ratio 0.67, 95% CI 0.50-0.92 per 10 degrees increase) and concentration (geometric mean ratio 0.90, 95% CI 0.83-0.97 per 10 degrees) of Legionella spp. Average humidity in the week prior to sampling was negatively correlated with the L. pneumophila concentration (geometric mean ratio 0.73, 95% CI 0.56-0.96 per increase in 10% of humidity). Discussion This study suggests that composting facilities can be regarded as reservoirs of Legionella in The Netherlands, but additional studies should target if such facilities represent a human health risk.Objectives To evaluate the effects of simulated tooth brushing (STB) on the surface roughness of microhybrid and nanofilled resin composites following different finishing and polishing procedures. Materials and methods Ninety cylindrical-shaped specimens of Filtek Supreme XT (a universal nano resin composite) and Filtek Z250 (a universal microhybrid resin composite) were prepared. The specimens were allocated at random into 9 paired groups each of 10 specimens. The finishing and polishing systems included were Tungsten Carbide bur (TC); Diamond bur (Db); Sof-Lex discs (S); PoGo discs (PG); TC + S; Db + S; TC + PG; Db + PG. Polymerisation against a Mylar strip without finishing and polishing acted as the control. Surface roughness was measured using a 3D non-contact optical profilometer and surface morphology was examined by scanning electron microscopy. Specimens were subjected to the equivalent of four years STB and surface roughness was measured again. We investigate the association between levels of HMGB1 and soluble RAGE (sRAGE) following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and the severity of ICH.
