Objective To evaluate the effect and safety of Serenoa repens extract (SR) combined with α-receptor blocker (αRB) in the treatment of BPH. METHODS We included 7 published randomized controlled trials (RCT) studying the effect and safety of SR+αRB versus αRB monotherapy in the treatment of 1 009 BPH patients, and performed a meta-analysis on the data obtained using the RevMan 5.1.3 software. RESULTS The baseline data from the RCTs were all comparable. Compared with the patients treated by αRB monotherapy, those of the SR+αRB group showed significant decreases in the total IPSS, sub-IPSS in the storage and voiding stages, quality of life score (QOL) and PSA level (all P 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Serenoa repens extract combined with α-receptor blocker is safe and effective, and even better than α-receptor blocker monotherapy, in the treatment of BPH.Objective To look into the work experience and feelings of male nurses in andrology and provide some reference for nursing administrators in rational allocation of human resources. METHODS We observed the specific phenomena by the phenomenological approach to qualitative study and found the essence of the problems by descriptive and inductive analyses. We interviewed 9 male nurses in andrology, described and analyzed their work experience and feelings. RESULTS Male nurses in andrology had a gender advantage, an easier acceptance by the patients, and a stronger sense of achievement. Meanwhile, they expected more support, more opportunities for further studies, and clearer career planning. RESULTS Male nurses in andrology are satisfied with their work with a positive experience. Andrology, as an emerging branch of science, calls for efforts from nursing administrators to establish knowledge and ability systems needed by male nurses and help define their career planning. Conclusions Male nurses are satisfied with the work of andrology and have good experience. Andrology is a new subject, it is suggested that nursing managers should construct the knowledge and ability system needed by male nurses and help male nurses to make their career planning clear. Objective To investigate the clinical features, pathogenesis, diagnosis and scrotal reconstruction in the treatment of idiopathic scrotal calcinosis (ISC). METHODS From March 2007 to October 2018, 10 ISC patients, aged 28-79 (mean 45) years and with a disease course of 6-497 (mean 128.4) months, were treated in our hospital. We retrospectively analyzed their clinical data and reviewed related literature. RESULTS All the patients underwent physical examination and biochemical and parathyroid function tests. None of them had a history of endocrine or metabolic disease, or trauma, or a family member with similar diseases, and none had subjective symptoms except local pruritus in 1 case. All were treated surgically and post-operative follow-up revealed no recurrence. Histopathological examination of the excised lesion confirmed it to be ISC. CONCLUSIONS ISC is a rare localized benign disease, of which surgery seems an effective option for the definite diagnosis and treatment. Occasionally scrotal reconstruction may be required in case of extensive involvement of the scrotal skin. Objective To further understand the clinical features of less then 360-degree testicular torsion (TT) in children and better predict its prognosis. METHODS This retrospective study included 73 cases of TT surgically confirmed in our hospital from January 2007 to January 2017, which, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were divided into groups A (TT of less then 360 degrees, n = 26) and B (TT of ≥360 degrees, n = 47). We sorted out the clinical data through the hospital medical information management system and analyzed the clinical characteristics and treatment of the cases. RESULTS Compared with the children of group B, those of group A had a significantly younger median age of TT onset (11.2 vs 2.4 yr, P less then 0.01), a longer course of disease ([12 ± 6] v
