Jordan Smith Anesthesiologist (jordan-smith-anesthesiologist)
Before Jordan Smith Anesthesiologist, ever worked on the physician's side of an operating room, he had spent time on the patient's side of one. Born in Boca Raton, Florida, he was diagnosed with leukemia as a child, and that experience is the reason he became a physician. Asked about the milestone he's proudest of, he doesn't reach for an award or a title. He points instead to coming full circle from his own cancer experience to become a board-certified anesthesiologist. The same thread runs through how he describes his work and through the places he has chosen to give his time.
Today he's a board-certified anesthesiologist and a healthcare entrepreneur, with a career that sits at the intersection of clinical medicine and business ownership. He practices as a locums anesthesiologist across Florida and New York, and he owns and operates multiple healthcare companies. It's a professional life that runs on two tracks at once. Colleagues know him for a straightforward clinical approach and for an entrepreneurial streak that has led him to launch and lead healthcare ventures in two states. Medicine wasn't handed down to him.
The volunteer work predates the clinical career, and it helps explain it. In high school and again in college, he put time into the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, an organization built around blood cancer research, patient support, and advocacy. That connection is personal. The disease he was raising his hand against is the same one he survived as a child.
His college years added a second commitment. At the University of Florida, he volunteered with the Child Life Program. Those programs exist to carry pediatric patients and their families through a hospital stay, giving children a way to understand medical procedures and cope with them. For a former pediatric cancer patient turned volunteer, it meant returning to the same environment from the other side, and it happened years before he set foot in medical school. He'd already spent time with cancer patients and hospitalized children by the end of college, at an age when none of it could count toward a medical school application.
He attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate degrees, then went on to Florida Atlantic University for medical school, earning his MD from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. His anesthesiology training was spread across three programs rather than one: Florida Atlantic University, New York University, and Larkin Community Hospital. That's an unusually broad training footprint, and it exposed him to academic, community, and high-volume urban practice environments in both Florida and New York.
The American Board of Anesthesiology certified him in 2024. He holds active medical licenses in three states, Florida, New York, and California, and he maintains membership in both the American Medical Association and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
His clinical work follows a locums model, which puts him in multiple facilities and regions instead of one fixed setting. The arrangement suits a physician who wanted his clinical craft to stay central while he built something alongside it.
What he built is a set of healthcare companies he owns and operates. He's the owner of City Surgical of Manhattan, a surgery center in New York City, and the founder of The IV Pro, an intravenous therapy business serving South Florida. Neither one sits outside healthcare, and that's intentional. The choice was deliberate. Instead of diversifying away from the field he trained in, Dr. Jordan Smith, MD, built companies that sit inside it, and he frames his working identity as a hybrid of medicine and business instead of a choice between them.
