Coupling clinically translatable research with commercially oriented methods offers the potential to drastically advance medical treatments for multiple diseases and injuries, improving the quality of life for many individuals.Despite the steep increase in Facebook Stories users, there is scant research on this topic. This study compared the associations of frequency of Stories update, frequency of news feed updates, time spent reading Stories, and time spent reading news feeds, with regard to social media addiction, narcissism, and positive affect in college students. We recruited a sample of 316 college students from Taiwan. The analytical results show that Facebook Stories are more addictive and provoke more positive affect than conventional news feeds. Moreover, only usage behaviors associated with Stories predict narcissism. This study also found that the prediction of news feeds with regard to addiction, narcissism, and positive affect also seems to be diminishing and is being replaced by those of Stories. Future studies on the psychological consequences and predictors of social media usage should regard Stories as a crucial variable.Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) electrospun nanofibers (NFs) are ideal carriers for loading silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) serving as antibacterial materials. However, it is still a challenge to adjust the particles size, distribution, and loading density via a convenient and facile method in order to obtain tunable structure and antimicrobial activities. buy Sepantronium In this study, Ag NPs surface decorated PVA composite nanofibers (Ag/PVA CNFs) were fabricated by the solvothermal method in ethylene glycol, which plays the roles of both reductant and solvent. The morphology and structure of the as-fabricated Ag/PVA CNFs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, X-ray diffraction, UV-visible spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Ag NPs had an average diameter of 30 nm, the narrowest size distribution and the highest loading density were successfully decorated on the surfaces of PVA NFs, at the AgNO3 concentration of 0.066 mol/L. The antibacterial properties were evaluated by the methods of absorption, turbidity, and growth curves. The as-fabricated Ag/PVA hybrid CNFs exhibit excellent antimicrobial activities with antibacterial rates over 98%, especially for the sample prepared with AgNO3 concentration of 0.066 mol/L. Meanwhile, the antibacterial effects are more significant in the Gram-positive bacteria of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) than the Gram-negative bacteria of Escherichia coli (E. coli), since PVA is more susceptive to S. aureus. In summary, the most important contribution of this paper is the discovery that the particles size, distribution, and loading density of Ag NPs on PVA NFs can be easily controlled by adjusting AgNO3 concentrations, which has a significant impact on the antibacterial activities of Ag/PVA CNFs.Today, the time spent actively is increasingly being replaced by screen-based media, although in some teenagers, a high level of physical activity (PA) and longer time spent in front of a screen (screen time, ST) may coexist as a mixed behavioral pattern. This study aimed to examine the association of the pattern created as activity (low/high ST with high PA) and inactivity patterns (low/high ST with low PA) with overweight, central obesity, and muscle strength in Polish teenagers taking into consideration socioeconomic and demographic factors. Cross-sectional data were collected from elementary school children (n = 1567), aged 11-13 years. Height, weight, waist circumference, and handgrip strength were measured. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated as the overweight measure, and the waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) was calculated as the central obesity measure. Data on ST, PA, socioeconomic status, demographics, and nutrition knowledge were collected by a questionnaire.
