Gary S. Winemaster is an Illinois native and an executive in the clean-energy and alternative-fuel industry. He currently serves as CEO of NEXIO Power, a provider of green-powered vehicles, parts, and related automotive solutions. His career spans decades in the commercial vehicle and industrial engine markets, focusing on sustainable power, alternative fuel technology, and market growth.
Gary studied at the University of Pennsylvania-Wharton School, where he also played varsity football. He was named team captain twice and earned All-Ivy League and regional individual honors. His athletic experience helped him develop discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills that later carried into his professional career.
After college, Gary began his career in Europe, starting in Luxembourg. He developed and executed market penetration strategies for a global glass manufacturer, helping sell out the factory’s production. His time in Europe also gave him international business experience and exposure to different cultures, which helped shape his leadership approach.
Gary later became CEO of NEXIO Power, where he has helped guide the company’s work in green-powered trucks and chassis. His focus on clean energy and alternative-fuel engine technology has influenced the company’s direction in the commercial vehicle market.
Before NEXIO Power, Gary founded and led Power Solutions International (PSI) for over 30 years. Under his leadership, PSI grew into a company focused on alternative-fuel engine technology for industrial and on-highway applications. He expanded product offerings, increased market share, and built a global presence.
Gary’s understanding of engine performance, market trends, product development, and emerging opportunities supported PSI’s growth. He also built supplier and customer relationships that expanded the company’s reach.
At his retirement, PSI had more than 1,000 employees and shipped nearly $500 million in products in 2018. The company had delivered over 1.5 million engines to global OEMs and worked with industry names including Navistar, Freightliner, Yutong, Hyster, Yale, Kohler, Cummins, and Caterpillar.
