The brain networks of TLE patients displayed abnormally high synchronization in multi-frequency bands and shifted toward a more regular architecture with worse network efficiency in the theta band. Without the contamination of structural lesions, these significant findings can be helpful for better understanding of the pathophysiological mechanism of TLE. The theta band can be considered as a preferred frequency band for investigating the brain-network dysfunction of MRI-negative intractable TLE patients. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are well-documented logistic programs in elective surgery but it is still uncertain whether ERAS can benefit emergency patients, because of significant challenges facing its application to emergency surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the implementation of an ERAS protocol for patients with acute appendicitis (AA), both complicated and uncomplicated. A prospective observational study was performed at two university hospitals in Spain, between January 2012 and December 2019. Inclusion criteria were patients with diagnosis of AA, undergoing appendectomy following an ERAS protocol of perioperative care. The different items of the ERAS protocol were recorded and their implementation was separately evaluated. Analyzed variables also included postoperative complications, hospital stay and readmission rate. Levels of acute phase reactants were assessed as predictors of implementation for the ERAS protocol. Eight hundred fifty patients were included; 4ese patients. CRP levels over 13.5 mg/dl are predictors of difficulties in the implementation of all the items of ERAS protocols. Patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) who do not achieve pathological complete response (pCR) following neoadjuvant chemotherapy have a high risk of recurrence and death. Molecular characterization may identify patients unlikely to achieve pCR. This neoadjuvant trial was conducted to determine the pCR rate with docetaxel and carboplatin and to identify molecular alterations and/or immune gene signatures predicting pCR. Patients with clinical stages II/III TNBC received 6 cycles of docetaxel and carboplatin. The primary objective was to determine if neoadjuvant docetaxel and carboplatin would increase the pCR rate in TNBC compared to historical expectations. We performed whole-exome sequencing (WES) and immune profiling on pre-treatment tumor samples to identify alterations that may predict pCR. Thirteen matching on-treatment samples were also analyzed to assess changes in molecular profiles. Fifty-eight of 127 (45.7%) patients achieved pCR. We tested the hypothesis that the C-MAC® video laryngoscope (C-MAC) with an external display is more useful than the disposable i-view™ video laryngoscope (i-view) with an integrated display or a Macintosh direct laryngoscope (Macintosh) for tracheal intubation with an aerosol box. In this randomized, crossover manikin study, we recruited 37 medical personnel with > 2 years of dedicated anesthesia experience from five hospitals. After the three successful intubations within 60 s using each laryngoscope without a box, the participants performed tracheal intubation thrice with each laryngoscope with at least 2-h intervals in a determined order. The primary outcome was the intubation time. The secondary outcomes were success rate, Cormack-Lehane grade, and subjective difficulty scale score.
