Due to the overlap in signs and symptoms in the reported descriptions, it is not always possible to differentiate these reactions properly according to their pathomechanism. Similarly, many data reported as anaphylaxis actually describe severe anaphylactic reactions (grades III or IV).Conclusion There is an urgent need for a simpler symptom- or system-based classification and scoring system to create an awareness for HSRs to BSs. Hence this paper documented the application of species specific polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (SP-PCR-RFLP) assay targeting a short-fragments (69 bp) of mitochondrial cytochrome b (cytb) gene to screen feline meat in commercial meat products using lab-on-a-chip. The SP-PCR assay proved its specificity theoretically and experimentally while testing with different common animal, aquatic and plant species of DNA. The feline specific (69 bp, 43- and 26-bp) characteristic molecular DNA pattern was observed by SP-PCR and RFLP analysis. For assay performance, it was tested in three different types of commercial dummy meat products such as frankfurters, nuggets and meatballs and digested with AluI-restriction enzyme. The highest sensitivity of the assay using lab-on-a-chip was as low as 0.1 pg or 0.01 % (w/w) in commercial dummy meat products. We have also applied this assay to screen three important commercial meat products of six different brand from six supermarket chains located at three different states of Malaysia. Thus total 378 samples were tested to validate the specificity, sensitivity, stability of the assay and utilization of it for commercial meat product screening.In this paper, we develop parameter-robust numerical algorithms for Biot model and apply the algorithms in brain edema simulations. By introducing an intermediate variable, we derive a multiphysics reformulation of the Biot model. Based on the reformulation, the Biot model is viewed as a generalized Stokes subproblem combining with a reaction-diffusion subproblem. Solving the two subproblems together or separately leads to a coupled or a decoupled algorithm. We conduct extensive numerical experiments to show that the two algorithms are robust with respect to the key physical parameters. The algorithms are applied to study the brain swelling caused by abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in injured areas. The effects of the key physical parameters on brain swelling are carefully investigated. It is observed that the permeability has the biggest influence on intracranial pressure (ICP) and tissue deformation; the Young's modulus and the Poisson ratio do not affect the maximum value of ICP too much but have big influence on the tissue deformation and the developing speed of brain swelling.and accurate prediction of clean energy can supply an important reference for governments to formulate social and economic development policies.
