Explicit attention to year effects in ecological research serves to illuminate basic ecological principles, allowing for better understanding of contingencies in ecology. These dynamics also have strong implications for applied ecological research, offering new insights into ecological restoration as well as future climate change.We report on an 86-year-old woman with disfiguring skin lesions on her face, referred to us in spring 2017. Her medical history was clear except for an arterial hypertension and a bilateral hilar and peribronchial lymphadenopathy. In 2015 the asymptomatic patient was seen by a pneumologist for a function testing in view of the findings on chest CT scan. An active sarcoidosis however, could not be confirmed then. No significant dysfunction was observed.The anorexic voice (AV) is defined as a critical internal dialogue which has been implicated in the development and maintenance of anorexia nervosa (AN). Systematic research to explore this further requires a valid and reliable measurement tool. This study aimed to develop and assess the validity of the Experience of an Anorexic VoicE Questionnaire (EAVE-Q). EAVE-Q items were developed and checked for face and content validity through cognitive interviews with seven individuals diagnosed with AN. Participants with a diagnosis of AN (N = 148) completed the EAVE-Q, sociodemographic questions and measures of mood and quality of life to assess internal consistency and construct validity. Forty-nine participants completed the EAVE-Q twice more to assess test-retest reliability. The EAVE-Q had good face and content validity and good acceptability. Principal axis factoring resulted in an 18-item scale organised into five domains with high internal consistency (α = .70 to α = .85). Domains correlated significantly with eating disorder symptoms, psychological distress and quality of life. The EAVE-Q did not discriminate between participants on the basis of body mass index. Test-retest reliability was moderate. Although the factor structure of the EAVE-Q requires replication in other AN samples, the EAVE-Q is the first measure of a critical internal dialogue in AN. It is hoped that it will aid future research to increase understanding of AN and the continued development of person-centred treatments.Haplotype-based breeding, a recent promising breeding approach to develop tailor-made crop varieties, deals with identification of superior haplotypes and their deployment in breeding programmes. In this context, whole genome re-sequencing data of 292 genotypes from pigeonpea reference set were mined to identify the superior haplotypes for 10 drought-responsive candidate genes. A total of 83, 132 and 60 haplotypes were identified in breeding lines, landraces and wild species, respectively. Candidate gene-based association analysis of these 10 genes on a subset of 137 accessions of the pigeonpea reference set revealed 23 strong marker-trait associations (MTAs) in five genes influencing seven drought-responsive component traits. Haplo-pheno analysis for the strongly associated genes resulted in the identification of most promising haplotypes for three genes regulating five component drought traits. The haplotype C. cajan_23080-H2 for plant weight (PW), fresh weight (FW) and turgid weight (TW), the haplotype C. cajan_30211-H6 for PW, FW, TW and dry weight (DW), the haplotype C. cajan_26230-H11 for FW and DW and the haplotype C. cajan_26230-H5 for relative water content (RWC) were identified as superior haplotypes under drought stress condition. Furthermore, 17 accessions containing superior haplotypes for three drought-responsive genes were identified. The identified superior haplotypes and the accessions carrying these superior haplotypes will be very useful for deploying haplotype-based breeding to develop next-generation tailor-made better drought-responsive pigeonpea cultivars.Background Most public hospitals are receiving more referrals for first specialist assessme
