Stacey Knapp (instructorknapp)
I began my teaching career as a high school Language Arts and AP teacher. After completing my MFA in writing and a Post-Secondary Teaching Certificate from SFSU's Integrated Reading and Writing program, I began teaching in community college Reading and English Departments in 2010. I then taught in the SJSU English Department for three years, and now I currently enjoy teaching Technical Writing full-time for the College of Engineering. My background also includes a BA in Journalism, magazine publishing and more than a decade of working as professional writer for Bay Area corporations. My InstructorKnapp blog, which contains content that is sequenced and linked to classroom activities via my Digital Guides, receives an average of 6,000 page views annually from around the world. My introduction to Feminist and Marxist Criticism pages, both featured in my College Reading Study Guide, receive between 300-400 monthly page views. My current projects include testing and implementing educational technology to improve student learning outcomes. In 2016, I became the first SJSU faculty to receive Quality Matters certification for my hybrid (half online/half in-person) writing course and I also received an Exceptional Service to Students Award from California State University (CSU) Chancellor's office in 2015 as well as a Proven Course Redesign with Technology Grant from the CSU in 2016.
