Elise Wagner (ewag)

American painter born 1966 in Jersey City, NJ. Works primarily in the ancient Greco-Roman medium of encaustic painting which combines beeswax, resin and pigment. Her paintings are geological as much as they are celestial, abstract and astronomical. In a broader sense, her work explores the contradictions between the indifference of nature and the human impulse for order.
