Our “Raw” issue is about nurturing untapped creative energy, asserting creativity over trends, artisanship over mass-production, natural fibers over synthetics, and opportunity over poverty. This issue opens with “Eco and Ethical Fashion in the Raw”, a primer on responsible dressing penned by Sarah Magallanes, and illustrated by photographer Abby Greenawalt. This is followed by Jodi King’s wonderful vision of a raw Mad-Hatter-style tea party featuring revelers in vintage attire. Foreign Policy Digest writer Bronwen DeSena, follows with “Fashion Ethos” - an essay on Sri Lanka’s admirable commitment to sustainable apparel production illustrated by Michael Muscenti. Elaine Mensah provides au courant style tips about how to “Mix and Match” ethical pieces into one’s own wardrobe with photography by Walter Grio. We then conclude with a concise update on FFP’s programs by Yvette Castro. 100% of proceeds raised from the Lookbook benefit Fashion Fights Poverty's local youth programs and global microfinance activities.
