Turning Rumi: Singing verses of Love, Unity and Freedom is a book of 52 poem-paintings inspired from Mevlana Rumi's uplifting and universal poems of eternal love. Salma Arastu is a Bay Area artist who has been creating her lyrical and spiritual paintings and sculptures since more that 30 years. Inspired by the poems of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, a thirteenth century Persian Sufi poet, in her new Poem-Paintings she is recreating the peaceful, trance-like imagery to convey messages of love and unity. She has been supported by East Bay Community Foundation through their “Fund for Artists” in her pursuit of peace, to celebrate diversity and create positive interfaith dialogue through the arts.
